Curate, design, and promote a map to be sold at a custom pop-up shop

The search is on!
Your friends are in town and you have to choose a place to go... and you have to find the right places to go, which is always stressful. There seem to be endless options, and a bad review can leave you second-guessing. Shouldn’t there be an easier way to find great destinations?
What if finding destinations was more like asking
Your friend who knows all
Everyone has that friend who always seems to be in-the-know. My goal was to create a trusted, curated guide that could take you to the city’s best destinations, without the stress of searching – just like that friend.
The Design Process
I started by talking to neighborhood personalities and creatives – people who love Cincinnati and know the great places to go. From there I looked at other city guides and graphic inspiration to develop a brand language. The prototype was taken out into the wild to get feedback and was refined based on what the contributors had to say.
Four curated walking tours and 154 of the best restaurants, cafes, bars, shops and activities in Cincinnati.
Designing The Event
To introduce the map to community it serves, I created a pop-up shop and launch party where people could pick up preorders, hang out, and interact with a jumbo-version of the map to discuss their favorite places.
I went to hotspots on the map and asked people what they loved about Cincinnati. It was a great way to put faces to the places and to hear people's stories about why they love our city!
Window vinyls, an architectural installation, lighting, custom wall hangings, and a bar were all elements we created to turn the space from a legal office to a fully-branded shop.
